Also Known As:
Adrenal CT Scan CT of Adrenal Glands

A CT (Computed Tomography) scan of the adrenal glands is a specialized imaging test that uses X-rays and computer technology to create detailed cross-sectional images of the adrenal glands, which are small glands located on top of each kidney. This scan helps evaluate the size, shape, and structure of the adrenal glands and detect any abnormalities such as tumors, cysts, bleeding, enlargement, or other adrenal disorders.

During the procedure, the patient lies on a table that slides into a CT scanner. Sometimes, a contrast dye may be injected intravenously to enhance the visibility of the adrenal glands and surrounding blood vessels. The scan is non-invasive, usually takes only a few minutes, and provides crucial information for diagnosing conditions like adrenal tumors (adenomas), adrenal cancer, hyperplasia, or hormonal imbalances.
