The hs-CRP test is a blood test that measures very low levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), a substance produced by the liver in response to inflammation in the body.

Unlike a standard CRP test, the high-sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP) test can detect even small amounts of inflammation, which is useful for assessing risk of cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke.
