Also Known As:
HCV Antibody-IgG
The HCV Antibody β IgG test is a serological test used to detect the presence of Immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies against the Hepatitis C virus in the blood. Detection of these antibodies indicates exposure to HCV, either from a past infection that may have resolved or from a current infection.
This test does not distinguish between acute and chronic infection or indicate viral replication. A positive result is usually followed by a confirmatory test, such as HCV RNA PCR, to determine active infection.
