The gastrin test measures the level of gastrin hormone in the blood. Gastrin is produced by G cells in the stomach and helps regulate gastric acid secretion. This test is used to evaluate stomach acid-related disorders, investigate causes of peptic ulcers, or diagnose gastrinoma (Zollinger–Ellison syndrome).
