The CD23 marker is a low-affinity IgE receptor expressed on B lymphocytes. Its detection by flow cytometry is primarily used to aid in the diagnosis and differentiation of B-cell chronic lymphoproliferative disorders, particularly chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) versus mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). CD23 positivity supports a diagnosis of CLL, as MCL typically shows CD23 negativity.
