This test uses flow cytometry to detect and quantify TDT (Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase) expression in precursor cells. TDT is a nuclear enzyme typically expressed in immature lymphoid cells, including precursor B and T lymphoblasts. Detection of TDT is valuable in the diagnosis and classification of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and in distinguishing immature lymphoid cells from mature lymphocytes.
