The LDL (Low-Density Lipoprotein) cholesterol test measures the amount of LDL cholesterol in the blood. LDL is often called “bad cholesterol” because high levels can lead to the buildup of fatty deposits (plaque) in the arteries, increasing the risk of heart disease and stroke.
