Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) is a minimally invasive diagnostic procedure used to evaluate lumps or masses in various parts of the body, such as the thyroid, breast, lymph nodes, salivary glands, or other accessible tissues. During the test, a thin, hollow needle is inserted into the suspicious area to collect a small sample of cells. These cells are then examined under a microscope by a cytopathologist to detect any abnormalities, including infections, inflammatory conditions, or malignancies (cancer).
