The Estriol Unconjugated (uE3) test measures the level of free (unbound) estriol hormone in the mother’s blood during pregnancy. Estriol is one of the main forms of estrogen produced mainly by the fetus and placenta, and its level reflects how well the fetoplacental unit is functioning.
