The Cytomegalovirus DNA PCR Quantitative test measures the amount of CMV genetic material (DNA) in a patient’s blood or other body fluids using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology. Unlike qualitative tests, which only indicate the presence or absence of the virus, this quantitative test provides an exact viral load, expressed in copies per milliliter.
