This is a microbiological laboratory test done on a sample collected from the ear using a sterile swab. The sample is cultured under aerobic conditions (with oxygen) to detect and identify bacteria responsible for ear infection.
Once the organism is grown and identified, an antibiotic susceptibility (sensitivity) test is performed using a panel of 22 different antibiotics (drugs) to determine which medicines are effective or ineffective against the bacteria
