This test is performed to detect and identify aerobic bacterial pathogens in cerebrospinal fluid. The culture helps in diagnosing central nervous system (CNS) infections such as bacterial meningitis. Once bacterial growth is observed, susceptibility testing is performed against 22 different antimicrobial drugs to guide appropriate therapy.
