Chromosome analysis by amniotic fluid is a prenatal diagnostic test used to examine the baby’s chromosomes for genetic abnormalities during pregnancy. The test is performed using a procedure called Amniocentesis, in which a small amount of amniotic fluid is collected from the uterus using a thin needle, usually between 15–20 weeks of pregnancy.
