The Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR) test assesses how well the kidneys are filtering waste from the blood. It is calculated using serum creatinine along with age and gender, and helps in detecting, staging, and monitoring kidney disease. A lower eGFR indicates reduced kidney function.
