The Qualitative Anti-Streptolysin O (ASO) test is a serological test used to detect the presence of antibodies produced by the body in response to Streptococcus pyogenes infection. Streptolysin O is a toxin released by group A β-hemolytic streptococci, and the body generates anti-streptolysin O antibodies as part of the immune response.
