The Anti-Mitochondrial Antibody (AMA) – IFA test is a blood test used to detect antibodies directed against mitochondria (structures inside cells that produce energy). It is mainly used to help diagnose autoimmune liver diseases, especially Primary Biliary Cholangitis (previously called primary biliary cirrhosis).
