The AFP test in amniotic fluid is a prenatal diagnostic test used to measure the level of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) in the fluid surrounding the baby in the uterus (amniotic fluid). AFP is a protein produced by the developing fetus, mainly in the liver and yolk sac.
