The Acid-Fast Susceptibility – 5 Drugs (BACTEC) test is a laboratory test used to determine how Mycobacterium tuberculosis (the bacteria that causes tuberculosis) responds to first-line anti-tubercular drugs. It is performed using the BACTEC system (an automated liquid culture system) which rapidly grows mycobacteria and assesses drug susceptibility in a controlled environment.
