The Hepatitis B Core Total Antibody (HBcAb or anti-HBc) test detects antibodies produced against the core antigen of the Hepatitis B virus (HBV). This test is used to determine if a person has ever been exposed to HBV, whether the infection is recent, ongoing, or resolved.
