The HBV Genotype PCR test is a molecular diagnostic assay designed to detect the DNA of Hepatitis B virus (HBV) in a patient’s blood and determine its genotype (A–J). HBV genotypes differ in their geographic distribution, disease progression, and response to antiviral therapy. This test uses polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to amplify specific regions of the HBV genome, followed by either type-specific primer analysis or DNA sequencing to identify the genotype.
