The Scl-70 antibody test detects the presence of autoantibodies against topoisomerase I (also called Scl-70), an enzyme involved in DNA replication and repair. These autoantibodies are primarily associated with systemic sclerosis (scleroderma), particularly the diffuse cutaneous form, and can indicate more severe disease with internal organ involvement, such as lung fibrosis.
