The C-Peptide, Serum test measures the level of C-peptide in the blood. C-peptide is a protein fragment that is released into the bloodstream when the pancreas produces insulin. Since insulin and C-peptide are released in equal amounts, measuring C-peptide provides an indirect assessment of endogenous insulin production.
