The Cytomegalovirus (CMV) IgM antibody test is a blood test used to detect IgM antibodies against CMV. IgM antibodies are usually produced by the immune system during a recent or active CMV infection. A positive CMV IgM result suggests that the person may have a new or recent CMV infection, or sometimes a reactivation of a previous infection.
